24 officers from the 4 Pilot Course were sent to the United Kingdom for Training and later joined RAF operational squadrons before returning to India. These 24 pilots are not a separate course, but we have called them 4 RAF. After commissioning on 1 August 1940, they spent the first four weeks at ITS Lahore. These 24 officers arrived by the P&O liner Strathalan in England on 8 October 1940. On arrival, they were given a welcome message addressed individually to them by the Air Minister, Sir Archibald Sinclair.

The 24 were initially sent for basic flying training at various EFTSs, followed by SFTS and OTUs. 10 went to 12 EFTS at Prestwick to undergo flying training on de Havilland Moths subjected to an abbreviated course, with seven or eight subjects to pass. 13 went to 11 SFTS at Shawbury. This training phase was over by June 1941. They subsequently spread among the Squadrons in Fighter, Coastal and Bomber Command. Eight of them were killed in training and operations.
